Common questions
What does the model rating mean?
It's the model's read of an athlete against the rest of the world's top 20 in their event: how likely they'd be to finish in the top three if those 20 met in one final. Each event's ratings add up to 300.
Then what's a podium chance?
The same idea for a real competition, where the athletes are actually entered. You'll find it on the championship page and on each entrant's athlete page.
How accurate is it?
It's tested season by season on past championship finals, each one called only from the seasons before it. How it works has the figures.
Where does the data come from?
World Athletics' own public results and rankings. Nothing is typed in or edited by hand.
Does it know about injuries?
Before each call it checks the news for injuries and withdrawals and flags the athletes it finds. A late withdrawal can still beat the numbers on the day.
Is it free?
Yes. Every prediction on the site is free to read.
Is PodiumCall part of World Athletics?
